Boards of Canada have announced 'Inferno', their fifth studio album and first in 13 years, with the release set for May 29 via Warp Records. The Scottish brothers confirmed the record on April 22 after a month-long teasing campaign. Notably, the 18-track project arrives on red translucent 2xLP vinyl in a triple gatefold sleeve, alongside standard black vinyl, CD and digital editions.
Meanwhile, the campaign leading up to the reveal ran deep. Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin seeded cryptic VHS teasers to fans. Posters referencing the duo appeared in London, New York, California and Tokyo’s Liquidroom. The build-up culminated in a 42-second trailer that previewed fresh music.
