Disclosure returned to Coachella’s main stage at the weekend. The Lawrence brothers opened with ‘F For You’, their classic collaboration with Mary J Blige. From there, they delivered a career-spanning set that also teased new material. Across 16 tracks, Guy Lawrence and Howard Lawrence leaned on their deep catalogue and slipped in a fresh unreleased ID.
Early on, ‘When A Fire Starts To Burn’ and ‘Holding On’ with Gregory Porter followed the opener. Crucially, Leven Kali joined them on stage for ‘one2three’, the Chris Lake collaboration. Meanwhile, AlunaGeorge’s ‘White Noise’ and the seamless ‘The Sun Comes Up’ into ‘Tremendous’ blend carried the middle of the set. ‘Latch’ with Sam Smith landed late, at track 13.
Notably, Disclosure also debuted an unreleased ID that has already lit up the dance music community online. Fans have been replaying clips to identify any lyrics. Khalid then joined the duo toward the end for their Eko Roosevelt collab ‘Tondo’ and his own Disclosure-produced ‘Talk’. In turn, ‘She’s Gone, Dance On’ and ‘Arachnids’ rounded out the electronic-heavy portion. The duo closed with the Flume Remix of ‘You & Me’, a fan-favourite bookend to the run.
The reactions from inside the scene were immediate. Marshmello commented “Legendary” on the duo’s post. Indeed, Steve Angello stacked fire emojis while NERVO called their set “pure magic”. One commenter captured the mood simply, noting that ‘Latch’ “changed everyone’s lives”. Still, the real fan wishlist for weekend 2 centres on that unreleased ID. Disclosure will return to Coachella this Friday for another main stage slot.
