Donner MAMP2 Review: A Feature-Packed Budget Amplifier for Modern Homes

There are plenty of entry level amps in the $150 and around price range. Despite having so many options there are only a few that provide the latest functionality suited for homes in 2026. Donner released a 2 channel amplifier last year borrowing the features from its earlier MAMP5 release. The amplifier aims to make it convenient for everyday users to use this in a variety of different settings. I’ve been testing out the product for just over a month and here’s what we think about the amplifier

Package Content and Build Quality

The MAMP2 package comes with the amplifier, an attached cable, a remote and a manual. The amplifier is well built and weighs quite heavy. The best part about this is the design of the amplifier. Compared to other amps in this price range, MAMP2 easily takes the lead with its modern look boasting an all black design. There’s a small screen at the center as well that displays the mode you’re in. The knobs look sleek and the front panel provides easy access to connectivity features like USB, Aux and also provides 2 mic inputs at the front. The remote makes it convenient to use the functionality as well and provides all the controls.

The back panel features Optical, Coaxial, and MM phono input. Connect everything from your TV to turntables without additional equipment. Supports 4 speaker outputs in 2 zones. Dedicated subwoofer output and 60W per channel.

The design fits in nicely with most room aesthetics and its quite functional as well. So very little room for criticism on that end.

Functionality and Technical Specifications

Another thing, the MAMP2 excels at is the amount of features it packs in. Front panel offers independent L/R volume, master volume, treble (±11dB @10kHz), midrange, bass (±13dB @100Hz), echo, and mic volumes, plus USB/AUX ports, mode selector (USB/FM/AUX/LINE/PHONO/BT), and LED display. Multifunction remote handles EQ, Talkover, playback, and power across modes; settings auto-save. Rear includes FM antenna, multi-zone speaker clips, sub out, and all inputs for plug-and-play setup.

Not often do you see amps at this price range supporting Phono inputs. With the surge in the vinyl culture among home, the amp fully supports all types of modern day connections. The Class AB amplifier supports low distortion for a warm detailed sound but heats up quite a bit.

If you want to host a house party, build a home theater or enjoy the sound of your turntables, the MAMP2 does it all quit efficiently. The FM antenna add on is quite thoughtful as well for those preferring to tune in to their radio.

Our thoughts

The MAMP2 is a very thought through release by Donner. They have clearly worked upon keeping in mind different use cases in modern day homes. Its verstality and ease of use is its strongest suits. On the down side, the quality of the amps doest really compete with high end hifi amplifiers. Also the fan hum sound can be an issue for some preferring low noise setups.

Overall at this price point, its a great entry level amplifier. The amplifier also boasts a 30 day return policy along with an year warranty which is a great add on.
