The global electronic music industry hit 15.1 billion USD in 2025, up from 14.2 billion the year before, according to the new IMS Electronic Music Business Report 2025/26. Notably, the 7% growth rate outpaced 2024’s 6% lift, signalling a second consecutive year of expansion across the scene.

The report, authored by MIDiA Research’s Mark Mulligan for the fourth year running, breaks the total into six segments. Recorded music, DSPs, music publishing, festivals and clubs, merch and sponsorship and creator hardware and software all contributed. Meanwhile, publishing, merch and DSPs led the pack on growth rate.

“2025 was another good year for the global electronic music market with growth rooted in thriving scenes,” Mulligan said. “The fact that the business did so well against a backdrop of global uncertainty and disruptive technological change points both to the resilience of the industry and that the escapist role of the dancefloor has never been more important.”

Crucially, live took a hit. Venue closures and less frequent audience attendance weighed on the festivals and clubs segment. Creator tools also slowed as AI reshaped the software category. In turn, the balance of growth shifted toward digital rights and scene-building revenues.

The 15.1 billion figure covers only revenue directly generated by electronic music. It excludes economic impact categories like travel, hospitality and restaurant spend tied to electronic events. Equally, global music subscribers hit 919 million in 2025, with recorded music up 9% and publishing up 11% across the wider industry.

Furthermore, the report points to scene culture as the long-term growth engine. MIDiA highlights that while the wider music business is pivoting toward monetising fandom, electronic music has always been fan-building from the ground up. Scenes, clubs and regional movements remain the backbone.

Still, the headline number tells a bigger story. Electronic music has now more than doubled from its 6 billion USD pandemic low in 2020. Finally, the 15.1 billion mark underscores the genre’s position as one of music’s most resilient growth segments. Read the full report here.
