Elton John announces ‘The Remixes’ compilation featuring Purple Disco Machine, Claptone and The Blessed Madonna: Listen
Elton John continues celebrating his deep connection to dance music with the announcement of ‘Elton John – The Remixes’, a special release arriving for Record Store Day 2026 via Positiva Records.
First, the limited-edition vinyl arrives on April 18 as a glow-in-the-dark 180g LP, while the digital version will land exclusively on Beatport on April 19. The collection gathers a curated selection of dance reinterpretations from Elton’s catalog, bringing together artists from across modern electronic music.
The release features remixes by The Blessed Madonna, Purple Disco Machine, Claptone, Roger Sanchez, The 2 Bears, and more. Together, these producers reimagine some of Elton John’s most beloved songs through house, disco and underground club sounds.
Among the highlights, Purple Disco Machine delivers a glossy disco-house extended version of ‘Hold Me Closer’, while The Blessed Madonna adds euphoric dancefloor energy to ‘Cold Heart’. Meanwhile, Claptone provides a hypnotic melodic house interpretation of the same track, and KDME transforms ‘Rocket Man’ into a modern club rework.
Several of the tracks appear on vinyl for the first time, including ‘Cold Heart – The Blessed Madonna Extended Mix’, ‘Hold Me Closer – Purple Disco Machine Extended Mix’, and ‘Rocket Man – KDME Remix’.
For Elton John, the project reflects a lifelong connection to club culture that began in 1970s New York, where disco clubs like Studio 54 introduced him to the energy of dance music.
By bridging classic songwriting with modern electronic production, ‘The Remixes’ highlights how Elton John’s music continues to resonate across generations of dancefloors.
