Germany extends lead with 604M Spotify electronic music listeners [IMS Ibiza 2026 Report]

Germany has extended its lead as the world’s biggest electronic music market, clocking 604 million monthly Spotify listeners in 2025, according to the new IMS Electronic Music Business Report 2025/26. Notably, the top 13 markets grew 11% on aggregate across the year.

The IMS report, authored by MIDiA Research’s Mark Mulligan, uses Viberate data to track genre-level listener counts. Meanwhile, Indonesia posted the steepest jump at 77% growth, climbing into the top seven. In turn, Southeast Asia now sits alongside Europe and the Americas as a core electronic music region.

Crucially, Mexico moved the other way. The market fell 34% and dropped from fifth to twelfth. Equally, Spain slipped one spot despite 5% listener growth, reflecting stronger moves elsewhere. The shifts highlight how fast streaming rankings can reshape.

Germany, the United States, Australia and the Netherlands stand out as markets where electronic music Spotify monthly listeners now exceed five times the total population. Furthermore, those four territories have become strongholds where the genre is structurally embedded in streaming habits.

Still, the regional story cuts deeper than the headline numbers. Electronic music ranks first or second in 10 of its top 13 markets, ahead of hip hop, Latin and rock. Mexico is the only exception, where Latin music takes the top spot. In short, electronic is one of the most genuinely global genres on streaming.

Moreover, the data points to the Global South as an increasingly important growth lane. Finally, Germany’s 604 million figure confirms the country’s continued role as electronic music’s largest national market heading into 2026.
