John Summit releases debut album ‘CTRL ESCAPE’: Listen
John Summit has officially released his long-awaited debut album ‘CTRL ESCAPE’, arriving via Experts Only / Darkroom Records.
First, the 13-track project marks a major milestone in Summit’s career, as it captures both his journey into dance music and his current position as one of the scene’s most in-demand artists. In addition, the album features collaborations with Feid, The Chainsmokers, Julia Wolf, and more, bringing together a wide range of influences across the electronic spectrum.
Meanwhile, ‘CTRL ESCAPE’ reflects a deeper concept beyond the music itself. For Summit, the album represents a break from expectations – both personally and creatively. “The album is about escaping the control of corporate life,” he explained. “But also about not being pigeonholed with a specific sound.”
At the same time, the project pushes beyond Summit’s established tech house roots. Across the album, he blends elements of dubstep, drum & bass, and melodic electronic music. As a result, the body of work moves between festival-ready energy and more introspective moments. Notably, the focus track ‘Shades of Blue’ sees Devault and Julia Church join forces on a euphoric, high-impact record built for peak-time moments.
Leading up to the release, Summit steadily built momentum through a series of major performances and pop-up events. For instance, he headlined a sold-out open-to-close set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, while also hosting activations in Los Angeles and New York. Furthermore, he delivered high-profile appearances at Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, including a takeover of the Do LaB stage.
Ultimately, with ‘CTRL ESCAPE’, John Summit steps into a new phase — one defined by creative freedom, genre exploration, and a rapidly expanding global presence.
