Home Tech Splice adds 3 new AI tools to the platform

Splice has introduced three new AI tools, Variations, Craft, and Magic Fit, expanding its AI offerings and adoption. Splice has also made it clear that the creator compensation models also extend to these AI tools.

Variations, available in the Sounds plugin, let producers create new versions of any Splice sample — adjusting structure, key, and BPM while preserving the original’s core characteristics. The original creator is compensated each time their sound is used as a source and each time the variation is downloaded.

Craft, a new feature in Splice INSTRUMENT, transforms samples into fully playable instruments.

Magic Fit adapts any Splice sound to match the harmonic and rhythmic context of a session.
(Available Summer 2026.)

While these tools are amazing to empower the creativity of Splice users but will the newly generated samples be detected as AI generated or human generated samples? That’s something which needs to be explored. Using multiple Splice samples to create full tracks has now become a common practice among music producers worldwide.

With modern AI detection tools getting better at identifying AI-generated music, could samples created using features like Variations be flagged as having AI ‘fingerprints’ or artifacts, similar to tools like Suno or Udio, instead of being recognized as human-made recordings? With rapid advancements in music technology, the line between AI-generated and human-made content is becoming increasingly blurred.

We’ve reached out to the Splice team for comment and will update this page once we receive a response. It’s an interesting direction for Splice as it moves further into generative AI in music, and extending compensation to original creators appears to be a considered step in an otherwise contentious space.
