Steve Angello has officially released his long-awaited remix of Basement Jaxx’s 2001 classic ‘Where’s Your Head At.’ After years of circulating as a fan-favorite bootleg in his DJ sets, the rework now arrives as an official release via XL Recordings.

First, the remix gained cult status among fans after Angello began playing it during his live performances. Over time, the track became one of the Swedish producer’s most requested unreleased edits, regularly appearing in festival and club sets around the world. More recently, the remix returned to the spotlight during Swedish House Mafia’s headline performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, where its inclusion reignited speculation that an official release was finally on the way.

For Angello, the remix carries a deeply personal connection to the original record.

Basement Jaxx were a defining part of my youth. This track stayed with me through so many moments and really shaped who I became as an artist,” he explained. “I made a bootleg of it years ago just out of pure love, so getting the chance to come back to it and release it as an official remix honestly means a lot. Full circle.”

Originally released in 2001, ‘Where’s Your Head At’ became one of Basement Jaxx’s most recognizable records, reaching No. 9 on the UK charts and helping cement their global reputation. The track also appears on the duo’s landmark album ‘Rooty,’ which features other standout records including ‘Romeo,’ ‘Jus 1 Kiss,’ and ‘Get Me Off.’

Meanwhile, Basement Jaxx prepare for a busy summer celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Rooty,’ a record that helped bring UK house music into mainstream pop culture.
