TikTok’s #ElectronicMusic hashtag grew 106% in 2025, while #Techno surged 147% year on year, according to the new IMS Electronic Music Business Report 2025/26. Notably, 15 million posts now sit under the #DJ hashtag, cementing TikTok as a core discovery engine for the genre.

The IMS report, authored by MIDiA Research’s Mark Mulligan, pulls the figures directly from TikTok. Meanwhile, #Garage climbed 75% and #SpeedGarage tripled at 147% growth, matching the harder-and-faster pivot seen across SoundCloud. In turn, niche subgenres are growing at roughly twice the rate of mainstream categories.

Crucially, TikTok has become a genre-level amplifier. Around one in five TikTok users in Europe and the Americas now say they enjoy EDM, indexing higher than non-users. Equally, UK hashtag performance shows #HouseMusic, #Rave, #Techno and #ElectronicMusic all landing in the top 10 music-related hashtags.

The creation-side numbers also grew. Three million #ElectronicMusic creations went up over the year, a 50% jump on 2024. Furthermore, the visual and performance-driven nature of DJing makes it especially suited to short-form video formats.

Still, the platform’s role is more than passive discovery. TikTok has accelerated tracks from underground rooms to global support within weeks. In short, a 15-second clip can now reshape a DJ’s set list, a festival booking pattern or a Beatport chart entry.

Moreover, the #Techno 147% jump mirrors SoundCloud’s 83% Schranz upload surge, reinforcing the harder-sound direction. DJs and labels have already adapted their content strategies to match. Short-form clips, behind-the-decks edits and reaction-style content now drive catalogue discovery at unprecedented speed.

Finally, the IMS authors point to TikTok as one of the genre’s most important growth engines entering 2026. Read the full report here.
