Home Featured Tomorrowland Foundation opens 4th Music and Arts School in South Africa

Tomorrowland Foundation has opened its 4th Music and Arts School, this time landing in the Langrug community just outside Franschhoek, South Africa. Notably, the official opening took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, marking the Foundation’s first project on the African continent.

The new facility joins existing schools in Nepal, India and Brazil. Meanwhile, the Foundation has steadily expanded its global footprint over the past several years. South Africa now becomes the fourth flag in the network, with each new opening reinforcing the wider mission to bring creative education to underserved communities.

Crucially, the building itself runs to 400 square metres. Furthermore, the modular construction houses fully equipped classrooms and creative spaces across two floors. The design gives the local community a state-of-the-art base for the performing and visual arts.

The programme will serve over 600 children and young people. Equally, the curriculum spans music, dance and visual arts, giving every student multiple creative entry points. In turn, the breadth of disciplines mirrors the Foundation’s wider belief in art as a tool for personal development.

The Langrug Community Centre acts as the local partner. Still, day-to-day operations rely on a devoted team of teachers and professionals already embedded in the community. The school functions as an after-school programme for students aged 6 to 16.

The Tomorrowland Foundation has long sat alongside the festival itself as a parallel commitment. Moreover, it channels resources from the Belgian flagship into education, sustainability and community development projects across multiple countries. The Music and Arts School format has become its most visible humanitarian pillar.

Beyond the building, the impact runs deeper. Previous schools in Nepal, India and Brazil have given thousands of children access to music education they would otherwise never have encountered. In short, the Foundation extends the Tomorrowland ethos far beyond the festival’s main weekends.

Finally, the Langrug school adds Africa to the Tomorrowland Foundation map. The team behind the project has already signalled further global expansion in the years ahead.
