Driver405‘s contest-winning remix of The Midnight‘s ‘Runaways’ featuring Bonnie McKee is out today. The track lands as part of The Midnight’s expanded ‘Syndicate (Deluxe)’ album via Sony Music and Ultra Records. The release also marks Driver405’s biggest moment to date.

Notably, the remix was selected from a global LabelRadar competition of over 180 producers. Driver405 reimagined the dream-pop foundation into a late-night dark disco anthem. The rework blends driving basslines with shimmering Italo riffs around Bonnie McKee’s ethereal vocals.

“Winning The Midnight’s remix contest was pretty surreal,” Driver405 said. “They’re a huge inspiration, so getting the opportunity to put my Italo spin on their track and release with Ultra Music has been an incredible experience.”

Then there’s the wider album context. ‘Syndicate (Deluxe)’ expands the band’s 2025 release with six brand-new tracks. Chromeo contributes a funk-drenched remix of ‘Love Is an Ocean’. Carpenter Brut teams up for darker collaboration ‘Last Night in Paris’. Three previously unreleased demos also join the set: ‘Infinite’, ‘Against the Dark’, and ”Til the Stars Come Out’.

Driver405 is the ’80s-inspired alias of St. Louis native Ryan Andrew Roth. The Los Angeles-based artist navigates the industry with only one working vocal cord, channelling his sound through retro synths. His signature PowerGlove setup has become as recognisable as his music.

Plus, the release lands as The Midnight continues their Time Machines North American headline tour. Stream Driver405‘s remix via the official Sony Music release page.
