EDC 2026: 30 years of magic come together in Las Vegas
Upon entering gates C/D of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for EDC, fans are instantly overcome by the sights and sounds of the annual event. Standing in the massive stands, one comes face to face with the incredible Cosmic Meadow structure while being given an aerial view of the entire production.
With so many moving parts, EDC is both overwhelming and overly incredible all at once. Long before fans even make it to the grounds, a massive team of producers, promoters, designers, tech workers, and more is hard at work preparing this surreal event. Many attendees will never witness the scope of the event, the off-site scramble for artists, media, and more as they race across the strip to grab credentials, and of course, the various shuttles that deliver fans, industry, and artists to the grounds. All this groundwork and preparation only reinforce the actual 3-day spectacle and magic of witnessing EDC in person.
It goes without saying that the music is the reason so many fans make the trip to Las Vegas each May. The massive and elaborate stage designs, generally more of a European feature of the music scene, add a larger-than-life aspect to the music and artists who command them each day. Yet, the attention to detail and non-stop stimuli of the event grounds are equally important to the experience of EDC. With the music seemingly following fans throughout, one comes across droves of fans engaged in the many on-site features offered throughout Downtown EDC and various other points throughout, as they are with the stages. Walking the grounds, it is exciting and impressive as over 150,000 make their way from stage to stage, stopping for refreshments, entertainment, and more along the way.
Peggy Gou
Some artists easily transcend the world of dance music. Peggy Gou, with her boundless productions, meandering live shows, and endless array of fashion, both on and off stage, captures this energy and stimulates the cultural zeitgeist. Taking over the Neon Garden stage Friday night, she effortlessly displayed why she is one of the most intriguing and powerful tastemakers in the industry. Despite joining KI/KI for a powerful b2b on Saturday, it was Friday’s more intimate set that allowed Gou to ebb in flow through her own rhythms and unleash one of the weekend’s most powerful sets.
Alison Wonderland
Never one to cater to the trends and culture of dance music, Alison Wonderland is a main stage staple because she is just that damn cool. Not that she needs any assistance, but being married to one of the most exciting writers, directors, and producers in modern Hollywood certainly just serves her aura and mystique. So when fans at EDC were confronted by the iconic Eric Andre to introduce her set, it was both overstimulating and completely on brand for the Australian producer. Following Eric Andre can be a tall order for most artists, but Alison Wonderland isn’t most artists, and that’s why she is always a can’t miss performance in any environment.
The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers have certainly jumped the shark on dance music. They are, in many ways, a pop act that is talented enough to top the Billboard charts while still serving as a force to be reckoned with at EDC. Sometimes knowing who you are and what your strengths are is half the battle, and Drew Taggert and Alex Pall succeed as much for their anthemic productions as their own self-actualizations and delivery. Returning to Las Vegas for EDC, the pair easily shifted from chart-topping nostalgia to body-shaking main stage productions with seamless transitions. No matter what they do, The Chainsmokers will always draw a wide range of attention and criticism, but the truth is, if they weren’t so good, there wouldn’t be so many eyeballs on them.
Enclosed in the oval design of the Speedway, the stages generally all face inward, letting attendees survey the lay of the land in a way that is very unique to EDC. With every step through the lighted structures and fire-breathing installations, a new sound and style is uncovered, ensuring a constant stimulation throughout the night. It is this meshing together of genres, artists, fans, and more that makes EDC the spectacle that it truly is. For three nights in Las Vegas, all the best parts of dance music align to celebrate the music, the vibrancy, the excess, and most importantly, the community that makes this scene so special.
