Google updates Flow Music with new AI Tools
Google has announced a major update to Flow Music, adding new AI-powered song editing, music video generation and mobile creation features. The platform, which runs on Google’s Lyria 3 Pro music model, was initially introduced earlier this year as part of the broader Google Flow ecosystem for artists, producers and songwriters.
What changes have Google made?
One of the biggest additions is section-by-section editing. Users can now highlight specific parts of a song and make changes without affecting the rest of the track. According to Google, this includes rewriting or translating lyrics, changing production styles, modifying beat drops or extending short musical sections into entirely new ideas. The update is designed to offer more control compared to traditional prompt-based AI music systems.
AI Covers and Music Video Generation
Google Flow Music is also introducing a new “covers” feature that allows users to transform the style of complete tracks while preserving the original melody and arrangement. Google says users could, say for example, convert a song into an entirely different style such as lo-fi or classical. Additionally, Google is also integrating its new Gemini Omni Flash model into Flow Music for AI-generated music videos. Through conversational prompts, users can guide scene direction, pacing, visual style and subjects to match a track’s narrative.
Google also confirmed the launch of dedicated mobile apps for Flow Music. The iOS version is available now, while an Android release is planned for a later date. The company says the web platform will continue to offer the full feature set, while the mobile apps are intended to support on-the-go music creation and editing workflows.
