Marco Rubio goes viral for DJing John Summit’s ‘Shiver’ at family wedding
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has gone viral for an unexpected new role: wedding DJ. A clip of Rubio stepping behind the booth at a family wedding has been making the rounds online over the weekend.
The video shows Rubio wearing headphones, leaning over the controls and conferring with the hired DJ as ‘Shiver’ by John Summit and HAYLA plays out. Guests respond by linking arms and chanting along to the drop. The clip was posted by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino on X and quickly racked up millions of views.
The track choice has been doing the heavy lifting on the dance music side of the conversation. ‘Shiver’ is one of John Summit’s biggest releases to date, with HAYLA’s vocal turning it into a club anthem that has been a constant rotation pick at festivals and main rooms across 2025 and 2026.
Public reaction online has leaned playful. One X user joked that Rubio is “becoming the official White House DJ”, and several AI-generated images of him in club-style DJ gear with sunglasses, headphones and turntables have spread alongside the original clip.
Marco Rubio currently holds an unusual stack of positions in addition to Secretary of State. He is also serving as acting National Security Advisor and acting National Archivist. He is the first official to simultaneously hold the first two of those positions since Henry Kissinger during the Nixon era.
The wedding clip will not change any of that. It does, however, give John Summit and HAYLA a moment of unexpected cross-platform exposure that no PR campaign could have engineered.
Marco Rubio’s wedding DJ cameo is currently circulating across X and TikTok, with John Summit’s ‘Shiver’ featuring HAYLA at the centre of it.
