Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran have officially released ‘Repeat It’ on STMPD RCRDS. The pair started the long-awaited collaboration 12 years ago. The official version is out worldwide today as a birthday release for Garrix, who turns 30.
“To be announcing and releasing this single around my 30th birthday feels incredibly special — honestly the best gift I could’ve wished for,” the Dutch DJ said. “We actually started this song 12 years ago in Nashville, and for the longest time I genuinely thought it would never be an official release.”
Also, Sheeran echoed the same energy in his own statement. “Me and Martin made Repeat It 12 years ago after we made friends on a night out in Amsterdam,” he said. “I’d say every day fans leave comments under my posts asking where it is, so this one is for you guys. Happy Birthday Martin, and happy Repeat It day for everyone else.”
The dance-pop crossover blends Sheeran’s signature vocal with Garrix’s polished production, mixing electronic dance music with guitar-driven and orchestral textures. Liam Pethick directed the music video and shot it in Santiago, Chile. The cut builds from clips of both artists’ lives over the last 12 years. Then for the single artwork, viral contemporary artist Werner Bronkhorst — known for his textured, hyper-realistic miniature scenes — created the cover.
Plus, the release also comes during a heavy run for Martin Garrix. Earlier this month, Martin Garrix kicked off the Martin Garrix Americas Tour — his largest and most ambitious North and South American headline run to date. He plays Movistar Arena in Santiago tonight, after pulling 130,000 fans to Puerto Sonoro Festival in Veracruz, Mexico last month. Now stream ‘Repeat It’ via STMPD RCRDS.
