Home Tech Novation unveils FLkey 2, its next keyboard controller for FL Studio

Novation has announced the FLkey 2, a new range of MIDI keyboard controllers designed specifically for FL Studio. The lineup succeeds the original FLkey series and is officially supported by Image-Line, the developer behind FL Studio.

The FLkey 2 range comes in four sizes: 25, 37, 49, and 61 keys. The two larger models — the 49 and 61 — now feature semi-weighted keybeds, an upgrade from the original series. All models include more responsive pads, endless encoders, and a new OLED display that shows information from FL Studio projects directly on the controller.

The controllers connect to FL Studio through updated DAW scripts, providing direct hardware control over the Channel Rack, Mixer, and plugin parameters. The 16 RGB-backlit pads support step sequencing, sample triggering, and finger drumming across FL Studio’s native instruments including FPC, Slicex, and Fruity Slicer. Scale and Chord Modes and a built-in arpeggiator are included across the range. The 49 and 61 models also add nine faders and keyboard split and layer functionality.

Beyond FL Studio, the FLkey 2 supports other DAWs via Mackie HUI, includes a MIDI Out port for hardware connections, and carries NKS compatibility for use with Native Instruments software.

Each controller ships with a software bundle that includes a six-month subscription to FL Studio’s Producer Edition, instruments and effects from Native Instruments, GForce, Klevgrand, and Orchestral Tools, Melodics lessons, and Novation Play.

Pricing starts at $129.99 / £109.99 for the 25-key Mini and runs to $329.99 / £279.99 for the 61-key model. The FLkey 2 range is available now through authorised retailers and directly from Novation.
