OXI ONE MKII firmware 2.0 adds three new sequencer modes: SAGA, DOMINO, and MIDI Player
OXI Instruments has released firmware 2.0 for the OXI ONE MKII, marking the sequencer’s first anniversary with an update that jumps from version 0.19.7 straight to 2.0 and introduces three entirely new sequencer modes.
The OXI ONE MKII launched in May 2025 as a major expansion of the original OXI ONE, bringing more tracks, more memory, and a refined performance workflow to an already distinctive grid-based sequencer. The original gained a cult following after selling out within hours on Kickstarter in 2020. Firmware 2.0 is the most significant update to the MKII since release.
The three new OXI ONE MKII sequencer modes
SAGA is a polyphonic mode built for live performance. It operates without fixed bar lengths, allowing a different compositional approach to arrangement. The Repeat Engine, accumulators, and logic functions all remain active in this mode.
DOMINO is a polyphonic trigger-advance sequencer with independent trigger and note layers. The trigger section controls up to 64 steps and drives playback through a separate 32-step note layer, so rhythm and pitch can be edited independently. It opens up sequences that would be difficult or impossible in traditional step sequencer modes.
MIDI Player adds the ability to import and play back MIDI files from a microSD card, which opens a new workflow for producers working between hardware and DAW sessions.
Additional additions in firmware 2.0
Beyond the new modes, firmware 2.0 adds a new chord palette for CHORD mode, a MIDI capture function that records notes played in keyboard mode or via an external MIDI controller into a buffer and converts them into a new sequence, chord recognition, independent parameter transport for velocity, gate, and repeat across MONO, CHORD, and MULTITRACK modes, and MIDI channel multiplexing.
OXI recommends backing up projects before installing 2.0, as instrument definitions will be cleared by the update.
