Rem Siman has dropped his new single ‘Sugar’ on Max Styler’s Nu Moda imprint. The track lands today and marks the Melbourne producer’s first release on the label.

‘Sugar’ has already had a head start in the booth. Max Styler played it during his open-to-close set at Radius Chicago and singled it out as the biggest reaction of the night, with the clip leading his post-show recap. That alone tells you most of what you need to know about the cut’s dancefloor weight.

The track sits in the indie-dance-meets-house lane that Max Styler’s label has built itself around. It pulls from progressive house and melodic textures without losing the contemporary club edge, which is the same blend that has been getting wide industry support across the last 12 months. A signing to Nu Moda is a strong tell that Rem Siman lands in that bracket cleanly.

The song’s name has a more practical origin than you might guess. “‘Sugar’ started from experimenting with a new VST I was trialling,” Rem Siman explained. “As soon as I ran the lead through it, the sound instantly came to life and gave me the whole foundation for the track. The bassline came next, and from there the rest almost wrote itself. I called it ‘Sugar’ because the lead had this sweet, glowing character to it, and funny enough, that was also the name of the VST that helped shape the sound.”

Rem Siman has been working Melbourne’s underground since he first stepped behind the decks at 17. His 2024 breakout ‘Face The Music’ broke into Beatport’s Overall Top 100, has cleared roughly 2 million Spotify streams, and picked up BBC Radio 1 support from Pete Tong. Across his catalogue, his music has earned international support from Solomun, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Miss Monique, Massano, Cristoph and Eelke Kleijn.

His catalogue runs across Days Like Nights, Hollystone, You Plus One, Bush Records and UGENIUS, with Nu Moda the latest addition. Back home he holds residencies at Revolver, Circus, 161 and Pawn & Co.

With ‘Sugar’ now out and the label connections building, Rem Siman continues to build momentum as part of Australia’s next wave of underground electronic talent.
