Roland releases ZENOLOGY GX for iPad free during introductory period

Roland’s ZENOLOGY GX is now available on iPad, and during its introductory period the app is completely free with all features unlocked. The period is set to run through sometime later in 2026.

The iPad version uses the same ZEN-Core synthesis engine found in Roland’s flagship hardware — including the FANTOM series and Jupiter-X. Sounds are cross-compatible between the iPad app and compatible Roland hardware, making it a practical companion for producers already in the ZEN-Core ecosystem.

Features

The app ships with over 4,000 sounds, expandable to more than 11,000 via Roland expansion packs. Each patch is built from up to four partials, with full access to oscillators, filters, envelopes, and LFOs per partial. The filter section offers 10 types; the LFO engine provides 11 waveforms including a tempo-synced step LFO with 37 curve shapes per step. An effects chain with over 90 processors completes the signal path.

The interface is touch-optimised for iPad, with a patch browser managing the library. The standalone version is live now. AUv3 support is scheduled to arrive during the free introductory period, making it usable as an instrument plugin within apps like AUM or Cubasis.

The subscription model behind the free access

Roland’s Free Experience is time-limited, with no specified end date beyond sometime in 2026. Once it ends, users will need either a Roland Cloud Pro or Ultimate membership, or a one-time Lifetime Key purchase, to retain full access. A free tier remains after the period, but with reduced editing capabilities and a smaller sound library. This follows the same model Roland uses for ZENOLOGY GX on desktop.
