Skrillex has reconnected with ISOxo on a brand-new single titled 'Smoke'. Notably, the collaboration drops today and marks the duo's second official release together.
The new track arrives close to a year after their first joint cut. Meanwhile, the pair previously linked on ‘fuze’, which they previewed live during a back-to-back DJ set at Niteharts Festival. In turn, ‘Smoke’ formalises the studio chemistry that the live performance hinted at.
ISOxo continues to sit at the front of the new wave bass crossover. Crucially, the San Diego producer has built a fanbase that sits at the intersection of trap, dubstep and harder bass territory. Furthermore, Skrillex has long signalled his willingness to pull next-gen bass talent into his orbit, and ‘Smoke’ continues that pattern.
The release closes a busy stretch on the Skrillex calendar. Equally, last month the producer dropped ‘Duro’ alongside Young Miko, expanding his Latin-leaning catalogue. The single arrived on the back of a two-week run of South American performances.
Skrillex headlined Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Chile and Lollapalooza Brazil across the run. Moreover, he appeared at Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá and played a Lollapalooza Argentina side show with Bizarrap. Still, the most viral moment came from a Veneno Radio livestream alongside RHR and MC Dricka.
The new single keeps Skrillex squarely inside one of the busiest creative phases of his recent career. In short, the collaborations span Latin pop, club-leaning bass and broader experimental territory.
ISOxo, real name Robbie Marshall, has been quietly stacking releases of his own and remains one of the most-watched producers in the underground heavy bass scene. The pairing sits as a natural fit for both artists.
Finally, Skrillex and ISOxo’s ‘Smoke’ is out now via skrillex.lnk.to/smoke.
