Thomas Bangalter has remixed the orchestral track 'Circonvolutions' for a new 12-inch vinyl single. The Daft Punk co-founder produced the rework in collaboration with French fashion house CHANEL. It is out today, May 28.

The original composition was written for Bangalter’s 2023 album ‘Mythologies’, a project developed to accompany a ballet of the same name created by choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. The reworked version arrives as a limited-edition numbered 12-inch vinyl EP. Both the remix and the original orchestral version sit on the release. The original is performed by Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, conducted by Romain Dumas.

Plus, the release is also available digitally.

The CHANEL collaboration sits inside a wider Bangalter run that has kept the former Daft Punk member firmly in artistic territory. Next month, on 5 June, he releases a brand new score for the stage performance ‘MIRAGE – Ballet for 16 Dancers’. Choreographed by Damien Jalet in collaboration with artist Kōhei Nawa, it debuted last year in Geneva, Switzerland.

The same date also brings another major project. Bangalter has soundtracked ‘La Caverne du Pont Neuf’, a new installation by multidisciplinary artist JR that will transform Geneva’s oldest bridge into a cavern.

Earlier this year, Bangalter joined Fred again.. on stage during the producer’s landmark Alexandra Palace takeover. The b2b set has since racked up huge numbers as fans dig into the unusual pairing of the Daft Punk co-founder with the Fred again.. project.

Now, with the CHANEL release out today and the MIRAGE score on the way, the post-Daft Punk Bangalter chapter looks busier than ever. Read more via CHANEL.
