“When I was 5 years old, my world broke when I lost my mom. I moved to my aunt and later to another aunt and when I was 11 my grandmother took me in and raised me as her own daughter. She became my whole world. We lived in a social house, it was always full of love and she decorated it so beautifully but my heart broke every single winter, watching her under layers of blankets because the heating barely worked. I hated watching her carry heavy groceries up all the stairs.

Since I was a little girl, I made a silent promise to myself. My ultimate lifelong dream was to take care of the woman who sacrificed everything to take care of me. And I finally did it a few months ago. I bought a dream apartment for my grandmother as a surprise (with an extra apartment upstairs for a caretaker). She was in shock at first, but she is moved in now and living her best life like the queen she is. No more cold winters, no more stairs, having my aunts upstairs to take care of her.
