A significant legal development has emerged in the long-running dispute around Avicii's estate. Sweden's Court of Appeal has overturned an earlier ruling, meaning the late Swedish DJ's former manager Arash "Ash" Pournouri can now continue his lawsuit against four companies controlled by the artist's family.
The case will now move forward at the district court level. Ash Pournouri welcomed the decision in a written statement.

The legal back-and-forth stretches back several months. In March, the district court initially dismissed the lawsuit, which was directed against several companies controlled by Tim “Avicii” Bergling‘s family. With the Court of Appeal now overturning that decision, the lower court is required to take up the case for a substantive examination.
At the heart of the dispute is a deeply personal issue. Pournouri believes he has been singled out as responsible for Bergling‘s mental illness and death by suicide in 2018 — a characterisation he is challenging through the courts.
Pournouri co-founded At Night Management and worked closely alongside Bergling for years during the artist’s rise. His role across that period – and the period that followed — has been the subject of significant public debate in the years since Bergling‘s passing.
As of writing, the next step in the case is a substantive examination at the district court. There is no current public timeline for how long the process is expected to take.
