Bob Sinclar slams modern Ibiza: ‘We forget the clubbers’

Home Featured Bob Sinclar slams modern Ibiza: ‘We forget the clubbers’

Bob Sinclar has fired a sharp shot at modern Ibiza. The French house veteran spoke on a recent livestream with French YouTuber Joyca. In short, he believes the island has drifted away from the clubbers who built it.

Crucially, his framing was direct. “Forgive me, but I don’t recognize myself more in what happens in Ibiza,” he said. “Right now everything is way too expensive. We go to the VIP, we forget the clubbers, it is still the clubbers, the clubbers who created the Ibiza trend.”

Furthermore, Sinclar linked the shift to the economics behind it. “Well, because they want to make a maximum of money, then obviously the DJs ask more and more money and becoming more expensive, so it is necessary to make the evenings profitable, so we turn everything around the VIPs, tables, and all this becomes a little bit tiring,” he added.

Notably, he closed with a clear personal stance. “Honestly, I’m really from the clubbing club, and I like to play for people who want to dance,” he said. As a result, the clip travelled fast through the French house and Ibiza community.

Meanwhile, the timing matters. The 2026 Ibiza summer season is in full swing. In turn, his comments feed straight into the wider debate about spectacle, phones, and table service replacing the floor.

Still, Sinclar‘s message hits hard. Equally, plenty of clubbers agree that the focus on entertainment has overtaken the dancefloor. Indeed, he wants the island to remember who built its dance music reputation.
