Lizdek delivers debut studio album ‘DUALITY’ via MONTA Records: Listen

Multi-genre producer Lizdek, with roots in the trap, bass and dubstep lanes, has just released his first studio album ‘DUALITY’, out now via MONTA Records. The follow-up to his 2022 debut mixtape ‘Gemini’, the record turns the tension between two creative identities – the polished, commercial product and the raw, unfiltered visionary — into its central idea.

The result is a run of hard-hitting bangers that still sit somewhere between clarity and noise, structure and spontaneity. The guest list pulls in collaborators from across the rap and bass worlds: Ailow, Matt OX and DJ Smokey on ‘HI-FASHION’, Malixe and Oddly Godly on ‘INSANE’, SURF on ‘Go Back’, and Yandrel on ‘MAJKO’.

The producer broke down the concept directly.

“DUALITY is the love triangle I’ve created between everything I love and have loved in music up until this point. The project represents the friction between conforming to what’s expected versus giving into chaotic, expressive impulses. This emotional conflict embraces both sides of the coin; every track is a negotiation between structure and spontaneity, making for a true outline of my current experiences as an artist and human alike. Every decision behind DUALITY invites listeners to confront their own contradictions and embrace their complexity. The album is a mindset; through thick and thin, be exactly who you want to be, no matter how complicated it feels, and regardless of who’s watching.”

The album arrives on the back of a strong run for the producer, including his recent electro house collaboration with Habstrakt on Monstercat and ongoing support for his rework of Skrillex’s ‘Push’. He first moved into electronic music with the intricate, lush sound that defined his earlier work, before building a reputation as a regular on Sable Valley with a fiercer, harder-edged side.

His music has drawn support from a wide range of names across dance and electronic music — among them Skrillex, Martin Garrix, Marshmello, DJ Snake, Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Four Tet, NGHTMRE, Space Laces, Habstrakt and Kai Wachi. This year, the producer continues to build his live presence with a string of US shows, including a b2b set with ailow at a Brownies & Lemonade show in Seattle supporting RL Grime, Gryffin and Wax Motif, alongside shows in San Francisco, Denver and more.
