The Dutch DJ wore the NBA Championship-style jersey during his second sold-out show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, part of his three-night residency at the arena as part of his ongoing Americas Tour. The XL jersey features the name “Marty” embroidered on the back, a personal touch that turned the piece into the kind of one-of-a-kind memorabilia rarely seen outside the world of professional sports.
It is precisely that crossover that made the auction unusual. MatchWornShirt is best known for auctioning match-worn shirts from professional athletes in football, rugby and other major sports, with the proceeds typically supporting players’ chosen charities. MWS co-founder Bob Zonderwijk acknowledged the moment in his own statement, noting that the auction marked a rare crossover into the music world for the platform.
