Purple Disco Machine cancels shows until mid-July citing severe tinnitus and sudden hearing loss

The statement is direct and personal. Schmidt explained that he has been living with tinnitus for the past 25 years, but in the past three weeks the condition has worsened sharply and now requires immediate rest.

“I’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled shows from now until mid-July due to ongoing issues with my hearing. Over the past three weeks, I’ve been dealing with tinnitus and sudden hearing loss. While this has happened to me before, and I’ve been living with tinnitus for the past 25 years, it has never been this severe, and I need to follow my doctors’ advice and give my body the time it needs to recover.”

The producer also opened up about the weight of the decision. He acknowledged how difficult it was to step back from upcoming shows, especially given the fans planning to attend.

“Trust me when I say that I haven’t taken this decision lightly. Being unable to honor my commitments is one of the hardest things for me, especially knowing that so many of you were planning to come and see me.”

Schmidt also thanked the promoters, teams and partners who supported his decision. He noted that the response throughout the industry has been entirely understanding.

“The response from all of the promoters, teams, and partners involved has been nothing but kind and understanding, and I’m incredibly grateful for the compassion and support I’ve received.”

Importantly, he framed the break as temporary. He confirmed that he plans to return to the road from mid-July, with full recovery as the priority.

“The good news is that this is a temporary setback, and I’ll be back on the road from mid-July. Right now, the most important thing is giving my ears the rest they need so I can recover properly and return at 100% for the long run. Turns out I’m not a machine after all!”
