Skrillex drops surprise fifth studio album ‘SOMA’ with Chris Lake, Feid and more: Listen

Skrillex has dropped his surprise fifth studio album ‘SOMA‘. The project lands today after he teased the title and tracklist on Instagram earlier this week, continuing one of the most active stretches of his career.

Crucially, the album leans hard into collaborations. Across 13 tracks, ‘SOMA’ brings together collaborators from across the globe. As a result, the project expands on the creative partnerships that have emerged throughout Skrillex‘s recent releases, live performances, and DJ sets.

Notably, the collaborator list runs deep. Chris Lake features on two tracks, ‘É o Bonde’ and ‘La Noche 2’, the follow-up to 2024’s ‘La Noche’. Furthermore, the album includes Blawan, Feid, ISOxo, Naisha, Young Miko, Anita B Queen, BEAM, Nitepunk, RHR, Randomer, MC Dricka, Cristale, TeeZandos, Taichu, Tracey, Dismantle and rom.

Meanwhile, the album follows the previously released singles ‘Duro’ with Young Miko, ‘Smoke’ with ISOxo, Cristale and TeeZandos, and ‘Thistle’ with Randomer, Blawan and MC Dricka. Indeed, all three previews already hinted at the genre-bridging weight of the full record.

Equally, the title track may be the biggest highlight. ‘Soma’ with Nitepunk, formerly known as ‘POOSHA’, has been one of Skrillex‘s most feverishly awaited IDs since debuting at Ultra Miami in March. In short, follow-up appearances at Lollapalooza Chile and Argentina only pushed the hype further.

Furthermore, the rollout sits inside a packed week. ‘SOMA’ arrives off the back of CONTRA, the newly launched event platform Skrillex built in collaboration with Berlin Atonal. The first edition took over Kraftwerk Berlin on May 30 and 31. Indeed, the 70-plus artist festival positioned Skrillex as a curator on a different scale.

Equally, the release coincides with Skrillex‘s return to Primavera Sound Barcelona. He performs on the Revolut stage on Friday, June 5, before curating and hosting the festival’s CUPRA Pulse stage on Saturday evening. As a result, the launch hits two of European clubland’s biggest weekends back to back.
