Tim Bergling Foundation helps organise Sweden’s first-ever party debate on youth mental health

Crucially, the event invited representatives from all eight Swedish parliamentary parties. The cross-party participation was a notable signal of the issue’s national weight. Furthermore, mental health podcast Ångestpodden and Swedish Student Union Sveriges Elevkårer were also involved.

Notably, central topics included the proposed ban on social media use for children under 15. Other issues addressed included rising suicide rates among young people, long waiting times for child and adolescent psychiatric care, and how schools in Sweden can better support students.

Meanwhile, the Tim Bergling Foundation continues its work in Tim “Avicii” Bergling‘s memory. The foundation was established in 2019 following his passing in April 2018, and the organisation has since led a number of mental health-focused events and initiatives.

Equally, recent foundation projects have spanned multiple formats. These include the Dance For Life concert, last year’s charity auction of personal items and music equipment, and a new children’s mental health book that fans were invited to contribute to.

Still, the wider Avicii moment continues to grow. Earlier this year, Avicii‘s 2013 hit ‘Wake Me Up’ surpassed three billion streams on Spotify, while the three-part Avicii mini-docuseries Stories on Stories released its final episode. In short, the foundation’s debate stands as another quietly significant chapter in keeping his legacy meaningful beyond music.
