Tove Lo & Stromae release ‘des fleurs’ from forthcoming album ESTRUS: Listen

Tove Lo and Stromae have officially released ‘des fleurs’. The new single from her forthcoming sixth album ESTRUS brings together two of the most innovative trailblazers redefining the rules of pop in the 21st century. The album drops on 18th September via Pretty Swede Records/Virgin Music Group.

Crucially, the collaboration unites two distinct creative worlds. The GRAMMY-nominated Swedish artist teams with the internationally acclaimed and beloved Belgian artist for the first time. As a result, ‘des fleurs’ sits among the most-anticipated cross-cultural pop pairings of the year.

Notably, few artists have redefined the emotional possibilities of modern pop as completely as Tove Lo. With a diaristic style and a defiant openness around sex, addiction and vulnerability, she has become both a pop outlier and a generational touchstone, earning global hits and a devoted audience drawn to her unfiltered perspective.

Meanwhile, the new album dives even deeper. After years of locating truth somewhere between hedonism and vulnerability, her sixth album ESTRUS (meaning female mammal in heat) reaches an uncharted level of honesty. Furthermore, the propulsive electro-pop draws from The Knife, Robyn and much of the Swedish indie dance music she grew up on.

Equally, the collaborators are heavy. Tove Lo recorded ESTRUS with her longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg, alongside Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser (Addison Rae), plus the standout Stromae collaboration. Indeed, the album was recorded in LA, Stockholm and a small fishing village in Sweden where she spent summers as a child.

Crucially, that return shaped the record. “Growing up, being depressed, struggling with my eating disorder, going through breakups, family drama, loss, everything,” Tove Lo reflected on returning to the village where she made parts of Dirt Femme. To get to the core of herself, she realised she had to return to where she was first formed.

Furthermore, she framed the album bluntly. “Estrus is an animal in heat. It’s primal. It’s my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything,” Tove Lo shared. “There’s no good advice on this album… just a lot of feelings, no solutions.”

North American + UK/EU ESTRUS tour

Meanwhile, the live run is stacked. Tove Lo‘s North American ESTRUS tour starts on 15th September in Nashville, including Under the K Bridge Park in Brooklyn the day after the album drops. Equally, she’ll then head to the UK and Europe for her largest shows there to date, with more touring to follow in 2027. Mallrat supports across North America with Cobrah joining for the New York show, while Rose Gray joins across the UK and EU leg.

Still, the bigger picture is timing. ‘des fleurs’ is out today, and ESTRUS is set for release on 18th September. In short, the next chapter of Tove Lo‘s catalogue arrives with one of the most exciting collaborations of her career attached.
