A serious warning ahead of the summer festival season. A 23-year-old man from Cheadle, Imaad Choudry, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison after attempting to smuggle cocaine and MDMA into Creamfields last year. According to Cheshire Police, he was caught within seconds by a police drug-detection dog at the entrance.

A drug-detection dog spotted him within seconds at the gate

Choudry attempted to conceal the drugs internally to slip past festival security. In a statement about the case, Cheshire Police confirmed that the sniffer dog on duty picked up the scent within seconds of him arriving at the checkpoint, resulting in an immediate search. Officers ultimately recovered 14 bags of cocaine and nine MDMA tablets, with an estimated combined street value of between £640 and £800. He later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

The case lands as a very public reminder ahead of this year’s Creamfields, one of the UK’s biggest dance festivals, of just how effective modern festival security has become. Drug-detection dogs are now deployed across the majority of major UK dance events, with the same technology visible everywhere from Boomtown to Parklife. The message from police is clear: internal concealment is not a workaround, and the consequences of trying can be years in prison.

Full case details are available via the official Cheshire Police release.
