Empire of the Sun make history as first Australian act to sell out three Alexandra Palace shows

Sydney takes London. Empire of the Sun have just made history at Alexandra Palace, becoming the first Australian act ever to sell out three headline shows at the iconic North London venue. The three sold-out nights, on 24, 27 and 28 June, played to a combined crowd of over 30,000 fans as part of the duo’s ‘Ask That God: Afterlife’ European tour.

Only a small cast of major artists have hit the same milestone at Alexandra Palace, including Florence + The Machine, Dermot Kennedy and Fred again. To become the first Australian act to join that group is a serious achievement for Empire of the Sun, and comes on the back of their fourth top-ten album ‘Ask That God’, released in July 2024. Founding member Luke Steele is still on the road in support of the record, with Nick Littlemore contributing.

The London run is only halfway through what has become the most extensive world tour of the duo’s career. In 2026 alone, Empire of the Sun will play 51 shows across 18 countries to an estimated 450,000 fans across Europe, the UK and North America. The tour continues this week through Ireland, the Netherlands, France and Luxembourg, before the North American leg opens with a landmark appearance at Lollapalooza on 30 July. The remaining run stretches through October across 31 headline dates, including Red Rocks in Colorado and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
