Spain's National Police and Dutch authorities just delivered a serious blow to organised crime in the Balearics. A coordinated operation has dismantled a major Ibiza-Netherlands drug pipeline, seizing huge quantities of MDMA, ketamine and ecstasy across both countries, with two people now in custody. The details were first reported by Democrata and Diario de Ibiza.

Nearly 100 kilos of MDMA seized in Rotterdam

According to the reports, the network was moving synthetic drugs into Ibiza from the Netherlands – one of the classic pipelines that has historically supplied the island’s nightlife and party economy. On the Ibiza side, Spanish police seized substantial quantities of ketamine and ecstasy tablets. Meanwhile in Rotterdam, Dutch police made an even bigger discovery, pulling in nearly 100 kilos of MDMA along with over a ton of the precursor chemicals used to manufacture it.

Two people have been arrested as part of the operation, and the investigation is ongoing. The seizure of precursor chemicals in particular is significant, because it points to the network operating an industrial-scale production line — not just a distribution route — which suggests substantial disruption to supply in the coming weeks.

The bust follows a wider pattern of high-profile police operations targeting the drug economy around Ibiza this summer, including the recent case involving a well-known Ibiza DJ. Local authorities have been under increasing pressure to demonstrate action on the island’s drug problem, and this latest joint operation with Dutch counterparts is likely to be presented as a major example of that effort.
