Kygo made a bet, and Erling Haaland made it happen. Kygo has officially released his remix of the 2016 Norwegian rap track 'Kygo Jo', originally recorded by Haaland alongside his friends Erik Botheim and Erik Tobias Sandberg as the group Flow Kingz. The producer had promised the remix if the Norwegian striker scored against Brazil in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Haaland duly delivered a two-goal masterclass. Kygo followed through.

Norway’s two biggest global exports link up on a very specific throwback

The story behind the release is genuinely one of a kind. Back in 2016, a young Erling Haaland filmed himself performing the track with Flow Kingz, a light, playful tribute to fellow Norwegian Kygo, whose star was rising fast at the time. Ten years later, Haaland is the most feared striker in world football, and Kygo is one of the biggest melodic producers on the planet. The circle closes with an official 2026 remix.

The bet itself was very public. Kygo promised the release if Haaland scored against Brazil in the World Cup Round of 16, and the striker’s response was to bag two goals. The remix arrives as a bit of a love letter to Norwegian pride and to a friendship-through-fandom moment that has now come full circle. Fans of Kygo’s tropical house era will find plenty to enjoy in the update.

The full remix is streaming now via Kygo’s official channels. Two icons, one country, one very funny 2016 rap tribute finally getting its proper moment.
