BT reveals the studio secret behind Tiësto collab ‘Love Comes Again’

BT Love Comes Again — one of the most-analysed vocal chains in modern trance finally has an official explanation. Notably, the American producer BT has just revealed the secret behind the swirling chorus of his classic Tiësto collaboration. As a result, a generation of studio nerds now has an inside look at how the anthem was built.

“I get asked constantly what’s happening in the chorus of ‘Love Comes Again’,” BT wrote. “Here’s the honest answer… and like most sounds people chase for years, it’s simpler and stranger than you’d guess. The best tricks usually are.” Furthermore, the DJ went into full studio-teacher mode across the reveal.

The magic behind the record comes down to a plugin from Zynaptiq. Meanwhile, BT credited DSP engineer Stephen Brenesse and the wider Zynaptiq team for building the tool. The original vocal was tracked in OS9 with a stacked 16-part harmony inspired by a signature Christian Burns technique. In turn, an embedded low-vocoder part gave the record its full-bodied harmonic girth.

The anthem originally landed as one of the biggest peak-time trance moments of the 2000s. Its emotional arc and layered chorus have since inspired countless studio producers to try to reverse-engineer the sound. Beyond that, the record has been reworked and remixed by dozens of artists across the past two decades.
