Chris Stussy has changed his artist name to Chris Stassy, and the announcement dropped without warning. The Dutch DJ and producer, real name Niels Christian Steenbergen, unveiled the rebrand on Instagram this afternoon. Alongside the post, he shared an image of himself standing in front of a poster that reads: "One letter, same mind. Same music, same vibe. Thank 'U' for everything, 'A' new chapter in my life."

Notably, all of the artist’s social media handles have already been updated to reflect the new name. However, Chris Stassy did not publicly detail a reason for the sudden shift. Meanwhile, fans in the comments are speculating that the change follows an unpublicised conflict with American streetwear brand Stüssy. Nothing has been confirmed on that front.

The artist’s debut album ‘Lost, Found & Forgotten…’ arrived under his original name back in March 2026. In turn, his label Up The Stuss appears to be unchanged for now. As a result, only the artist alias has moved, keeping the rest of his creative ecosystem intact.

To officially inaugurate the new name, Chris Stassy will host editions of his N.A.M.E. party series in Birmingham on August 22 and Amsterdam on August 27. Beyond that, the moves kick off what he is calling a “new era” for the project.

The rebrand lands during one of the busiest chapters of his career. Recently, he played a headline-grade back-to-back with Carl Cox at UNVRS Ibiza’s Sunday residency. Consequently, the name change now heads into the second half of the summer with real live-tested weight behind it. Follow Chris Stassy on Instagram for updates.
