John Summit has confirmed that 100% of the profits from his upcoming Bogotá show on 10 September will go towards earthquake relief efforts in Colombia. The Chicago DJ made the announcement on Instagram in the days following the disaster.
“COLOMBIA, as many of you know, on august 10th a devastating earthquake left thousands of families without a safe place to sleep,” Summit wrote. “Once hearing this news i wanted to use my show on september 10th in bogotá to help out, so we are now donating 100% of the profits to the TECHO foundation so they can build emergency houses for families in chocó & valle del cauca.”
Notably, the funds will flow directly to TECHO Foundation, a Latin American non-profit that builds emergency shelter for families in poverty and post-disaster contexts. The Bogotá date takes place at Chamorro City Hall, and remaining tickets are available via Summit’s Instagram bio.
Meanwhile, the announcement caps a period of extraordinary activity for Summit. Earlier this month, he sold out the LA Memorial Coliseum for the biggest headline show of his career, and the run into autumn continues to grow. Beyond that, Summit recently cancelled a batch of August festival dates including Pukkelpop and Creamfields to focus on his own arena tour prep.
Crucially, the Bogotá commitment adds another chapter to Summit’s year of headline-grabbing gestures, from a birthday hospital visit at Chicago’s Lurie Children’s to his ongoing focus on his Off The Grid label.
