Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean have confirmed that new Fugees music is "absolutely" on the table. The pair broke the news ahead of their reunion at the first UK edition of Diaspora Calling! festival at Milton Keynes National Bowl on 7 August, in an interview with BBC News.

Hill said the group had gone through “an incredible healing process,” while Jean said they are “in an amazing place” and that he is “back with my bandmate.” When asked directly about new music, Jean turned the question over to Hill: “Will there be music in the future?” Her one-word answer said everything. “Absolutely.”

The pair last shared a stage at New York’s Global Citizen Festival in 2023, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hill’s seminal 1998 album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’. Hill’s sons Zion and YG Marley, grandsons of Bob Marley, also appear at the Diaspora Calling! event, which celebrates Haitian art and music.

The group had previously announced a 25th-anniversary tour for their Grammy-winning debut ‘The Score’, but the dates were later cancelled. Earlier this year, Hill reflected on why she never released a follow-up to ‘The Miseducation’, writing that inspiration was never the issue but “the drain” and “the challenge to find safety so that you can create with integrity” were.

Hill headlined a tribute to the late D’Angelo and Roberta Flack at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards in February and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. Explore more hip-hop coverage on We Rave You.
