The route officially launches on 31 May 2027. Furthermore, the carrier will operate four weekly flights across the summer season, running until early October. In turn, that timing aligns almost perfectly with the island’s peak club and festival calendar.
The service will be operated by United‘s new Airbus A321XLR jets. Meanwhile, the A321XLR is particularly suited to markets such as Ibiza, where demand supports a direct transatlantic flight without needing to consistently fill a larger widebody. As a result, the route becomes commercially viable for the first time.
Previously, anyone flying to Ibiza from the United States had to connect via Madrid, Barcelona or another European hub. Beyond that, the new service removes that extra step entirely for New York-area travellers. In turn, the change unlocks a materially faster door-to-door option for the growing number of American clubbers making the pilgrimage every summer.
The Ibiza route sits inside United Airlines‘ biggest-ever international expansion. Notably, the carrier is adding 10 new destinations across Europe and Asia for 2027. WRY previously covered Ibiza Airport’s shifting flight capacity dynamics for 2026. Beyond that, WRY also revisited the wider Ibiza PIAT plan reshaping the island. As a result, the new route lands during one of the most consequential years for the island’s tourism model.
