Arturia has released MiniFreak V 5.0, bringing user sample and wavetable import to its MiniFreak software and hardware. The update also adds a new sound bank with 23 presets built around the instrument’s sample-based and wavetable engines.

The main addition is the ability to import custom audio directly into MiniFreak V. Users can drag and drop their own samples or wavetables into the software, while MiniFreak V automatically converts and trims the files to the required format. Supported audio is converted to 12-bit, 32 kHz, with samples limited to a maximum length of six seconds.

Imported files are marked with a “USR” prefix, making them easy to distinguish from factory content. They can then be used with MiniFreak’s sample-based and wavetable engines. The software manages imported content separately.

MiniFreak V 5.0 also adds hardware content management. When a MiniFreak is connected, users can check available memory and see how many samples and wavetables are stored on the instrument. Files can be sent to the hardware through the software or dragged directly into the hardware section.

Users can also remove individual samples and wavetables. MiniFreak V shows how many presets use a selected file before deletion. There is also a Reload Factory option that removes all user content and restores the factory library.

The update extends to preset management as well. Users can transfer presets from the new Sound Bank V5.0 to the hardware, along with their associated samples and wavetables.
