Charlotte de Witte’s ‘The Resistance’ EP is out now on KNTXT. The record features Theo Nasa and XSALT, and all proceeds go to The Nighttime Foundation, a global nonprofit working to protect nightlife and the grassroots communities behind it. De Witte confirmed the release earlier this month, and now fans can finally hear the full thing.

The title track is the one people have chased all summer. “Never have I ever teased a track this much as I teased ‘The Resistance’,” de Witte says. “It’s one of the biggest tracks I’ve ever made.” Over a juddering main theme, a rattling hyperspeed beat and spacey hoover swoops, Nasa delivers the credo: “we are unity, we are techno.” A short intro version also closes the EP, with his voice right at the front.

‘See Through The Lies’ reunites her with longtime vocal collaborator XSALT, who previously featured on ‘No Division’, ‘Overdrive’, ‘Roar’ and ‘How You Move’. Fast, stabby synths drive a message of pure defiance: “It’s time to take control.”

The most personal moment is ‘Another Place’. Relentless pizzicato synths carry de Witte’s own voice as it builds from whispers to full vocals. “‘Another Place’ has been in the making for over a decade,” she explains. The lyrics took shape in Brussels with her friend One Track Brain. Later, the track was forgotten, then rebuilt years afterwards around that original vocal. “This is an EP very close to my heart.”

The release caps a summer built around The Resistance audiovisual show. It premiered at UNVRS Ibiza and grew into an XXL edition at Rock Werchter for 40,000 fans. Now the music behind it is finally out in the world. Get The Resistance EP here.
