Hardwell and Dutch hardstyle duo Sound Rush have officially released their reimagined take on the Goo Goo Dolls' 1998 ballad 'Iris', flipping the emotional classic into a 160 BPM festival anthem. The track is out now via Revealed Recordings, one of the most anticipated crossover releases of the summer festival cycle.

Hardwell road-tested the rework across a run of marquee shows before the official drop, including EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Europe and Tomorrowland. Each drop pushed anticipation higher, with the track becoming one of the most-Shazamed and most-requested unreleased IDs of the season on his stages. Now finally out, it slots straight into festival playlists heading into the autumn.

Sound Rush are identical twin brothers from the Netherlands and one of the most melodic and technically sharp acts in modern hardstyle. Together with Hardwell, they trade the original’s hushed guitar for pounding kick drums, soaring lead synths and a candy-coated euphoric chorus lift, keeping the vocal at the emotional centre. It reads as a natural extension of the Dutch producer’s continued push into harder, faster territory.

The release also lands as another data point for the ongoing trend of iconic 90s and 00s songs being reworked for the modern main-stage. In other news, we recently covered Hardwell’s Tomorrowland 2026 Mainstage closing set, where an early version of ‘Iris’ also featured prominently.

Stream Hardwell & Sound Rush – ‘Iris’ now via Hardwell’s official Spotify page or grab the Extended Mix on Beatport for club and festival play.
