Three decades after Jeff Mills first set out to capture the full atmosphere of Tokyo’s Liquid Room, Apple Music is releasing a new chapter of that story. ‘Jeff Mills Live at Knockdown Center, Mar 14, 2026’ documents the New York stop of his Live at Liquid Room 30th Anniversary Tour, and it has been mixed in Spatial Audio for an immersive listening experience.

The original ‘Live at the Liquid Room, Tokyo’ arrived in 1995 as a recording of Mills in full flight at the Tokyo club. Revisiting that idea 30 years later, the anniversary tour brought the concept back to dancefloors, and the Knockdown Center show in Queens now gets the same treatment on record.

The release is split into two parts. Pt. 1 is out today, arriving alongside a set from Japanese techno pioneer Ken Ishii. Pt. 2 follows on October 8, paired with a set from Joey Beltram. Both Ishii and Beltram performed at Knockdown Center that same night, so together the four recordings capture the full scope of the evening rather than a single headline set.

It is the latest example of Apple Music using Spatial Audio to present long-form electronic sets, following projects such as Above & Beyond’s 25-year One Mix. For Mills, it also lands during a busy season, with new music on the way via Axis this November. Pt. 1 is available now on Apple Music.
