Martin Garrix has released his new single ‘This Dream Of You’, out now via Darkroom Records, and it might be the most personal record of his career so far. The track first served as the intro to his headline set at Tomorrowland, and he has been teasing it ever since through stripped-back acoustic performances and social media snippets.

The single opens with an orchestral, ethereal symphony before giving way to Garrix’s own vocals and signature production. Light, airy textures and euphoric melodies build an expansive atmosphere, while one lyric anchors it all: “this dream of you is my way of coping.” After first debuting his vocals on ‘Catharina’, he now puts his voice at the very centre of the production.

“This Dream of You is a really special one for me,” Garrix said. “Singing is very far outside of my comfort zone, but I’ve been wanting to push myself, try new things and keep learning. I first played the track as my intro at Tomorrowland, which made that moment even more personal. Having my own voice at the center of one of my productions is something I never thought I’d do, so this release means a lot to me.”

It caps a remarkable run for the Dutch star. His recent single ‘Fireflies’ with U2, the first track to feature all four members of the band alongside Garrix, has broken into the Top 10 at UK radio. He also teamed up with Madonna on ‘Bizarre’ from her new album ‘Confessions II’, after premiering it during his three-night run at Barclays Center in New York. Meanwhile, ‘Repeat It’ with Ed Sheeran has reached the Top 15 on the Mediabase Top 40 since its May release.

With ‘This Dream Of You’, Garrix shows a quieter, more vulnerable side. Listen now and watch his acoustic snippet below.
