Native Instruments turns 30 this year and has marked it with a free Maschine update and three new Expansions. Everything landed today.

Maschine 3.7 is free for anyone on Maschine 3. Support on Maschine+ is coming later, so hardware owners are waiting.

What’s new in Maschine 3.7

All three additions do the same job from different angles. They fill in a pattern for you instead of leaving you staring at an empty grid.

  • Random Note Generator. Set the odds and Maschine writes the notes.
  • Euclidean Sequencer. Dial in steps, fills and rotation. A live mode updates the pattern while the loop is still running.
  • Note Event (Chance). Give each note a probability. Maschine re-rolls it every loop, so the pattern keeps shifting, and you can lock a version once you like it.

If you have used an Elektron box or anything modular, this will feel familiar. It is probability-based sequencing, now built into Maschine.

The three Expansions

  • Thirty ($30 / €30). Built from Native Instruments’ own back catalogue, resampled. Pulls from Reaktor, Spotlight Series, Play Series and Massive X. 30 kits, 89 loops, 291 drum samples, 85 one-shots.
  • Paris Heat ($49 / €49). French house. Resonant filters, four-to-the-floor, rising filter sweeps. 40 kits, 108 loops, 314 drum samples, 127 one-shots.
  • Rage Circuit ($49 / €49). Rage and hypertrap, made with Grammy-winning producer Snipe Young. Distorted synths, heavy 808s, glitches. 41 kits, 291 loops, 375 drum samples, 37 one-shots.

All three work in any DAW, not just Maschine. Each includes drum kits, construction kits, FX chains and presets for Massive, Monark and Prism, the same instruments bundled in Komplete.

The anniversary also arrives after a difficult year. Native Instruments entered insolvency proceedings in January and was acquired by inMusic in May, the company behind Akai and Moog. This is the first significant Maschine content drop since.

“30 years is a moment worth celebrating,” said Tim Adnitt, Senior Director of Product Management. He called it one of the biggest weeks for Maschine sound content the company has had.
