NTO is a renowned producer and DJ from the south of France. He discovered electronic music at a very early age and was mesmerized by the sound of German minimal techno. His music has a very unique characteristic sound and some of his tracks have received remixes from legends such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Rodriguez Jr., and more. NTO released his last album, Apnea back in 2021. We recently caught up with the techno legend to gain insights into his music production process.  Answer: u-he Diva, Omnisphere, Kontakt 5, Kick 2 & more

 

1. u-he Diva: Probably my favorite synth plugin. To me, it’s the only one that can push the sound as close as an analog sound. I use it not only for bass but also for leads or pads.

2. Omnisphere 2 (Spectrasonics) – So many possibilities with this one. The sound bank is huge and there is an infinity of combinations/modulations possible between waveforms and samples. Very nice character also.

3. Kontakt 5 – Scarbee – Rickenbacker bass – An acoustic bass library for kontakt. The render is very realistic and warm.

4.Kick 2 – A plugin to design your own kick. We can adjust the note’s height of every kick drum’s phase (attack, decay, release…etc). Very precise, we can adapt the kick to each track’s tonality.

1. Fabfilter bundle: The eq of Fablifter is extremely precise. Since the last version 3, it’s possible to make the curve’s points dynamic. It’s a bit like compressors targeted on specific points of the spectrum. It’s super powerful.
