Tidal allows premium customers to test beta DJ feature

While streaming services are vying for new ways to engage users and draw more subscribers to their accounts, TIDAL is trying to step up its game with a new feature that is currently in beta testing.  With the new DJ feature available on both the iOS and Android apps, users will be able to share playlists, songs, and albums with others in real-time.

While there are still limited details released about the new function, TIDAL is offering subscribers of their HiFi Plus plan the opportunity to beta test the new feature as developers continue to finalize the release.  Subscribers of the plan pay $20 a month, but allow users to pick which quality audio they prefer, as well as deliver 10% of the fee directly to the artists most listened to by the user.  As of now, these users have access to the DJ feature through the company’s Early Access Program, a unique program that offers users the ability to test-drive new features while still in the beta stage.

As for the DJ feature, it will allow users the abiltiy to instantly share any of the 90+ million songs on TIDAL in real time with other users.  This means that sharing playlists, songs, and albums can now happen in real time, allowing for quick sharing of music whether together on a road trip or a country apart.  It is important to note, that while it seems users will be able to eventually utilize this feature across all membership levels, the sound quality of the audio will play for the DJ at their chosen level, but the recipient will hear the music at a normal quality, assuming a standard AAC.  With the abiltiy to instantly share music, friends and family can sync up their listening habits no matter where they are.  If you’re a HiFi Plus member of TIDAL, be sure to try out the new feature!
