German trance legend Paul van Dyk released an emotional, heartfelt statement to his followers today, recognizing the one-year anniversary of his fall off the stage at the A State of Trance in Utrecht last year. van Dyk wanted to let all his fans and followers know that he appreciates all of the love and support that he has received over the year during recovery.

Last year, during his A State of Trance 750 set, van Dyk faced the unimaginable. Shortly after beginning his performance, the German fell through a gap to the side of the stage, resulting in a 15-20-foot fall, a cracked vertebra, and brain damage. Due to the accident, ASOT host Armin Van Buuren shut down the mainstage of the festival.

After months of hard work and rehab, Paul van Dyk re-emerged to the electronic world, including shows at EDC Las Vegas and an Ibiza residency. Speaking on Twitter, van Dyk stated that he could not have done it without the help of his fans, incredible medical care he received, and support from his family and team. The full statement from his Twitter is below.

We at We Rave You are extremely happy that Paul van Dyk is working his way to a full recovery. We wish him the best in his journey and are grateful that he can return to the electronic music world once again.
