Swedish House Mafia have dropped their most blatant hint yet that the highly rumoured reunion is set to happen at Ultra Music Festival, the 20th anniversary of the Miami event. With the festival taking place between Friday 23rd, and Sunday 25th of March, Ultra have warned fans to ‘expect the unexpected’ regarding a series of “Special Surprise Performances” and right now, Swedish House Mafia have just updated their Facebook cover photo, a full 5 years on from their last ever performance; which also took place at Ultra in Miami.
With fans first believing the reunion had no chance of happening, due to Steve Angello performing in Asia during the dates of Ultra, Steve’s official tour diary on his official website shows that the Asia trip is no longer happening, and he is indeed free during the weekend of Ultra. The move also follows the Swede’s Instagram activity, where he re-followed SHM members Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, and manager Amy Thomson, and the 4 have all been ‘liking’ eachother’s Insta-posts frequently over the course of the past 4 weeks.
With the official Swedish House Mafia Twitter account also becoming active again a few weeks back, for the first time in half a decade, the official SHM page started hitting ‘like’ on fan comments about the proposed Ultra reunion, and today, at the very same time that Swedish House Mafia updated their cover photo, Steve Angello posted a photo of himself performing at Ultra Miami on his Instagram account, with the caption: “Because I can.”
Whilst most first believed these links to be nothing more that speculation, it seems that the reunion is now very likely for the Swedish dance legends, and the whole world will be watching with a sharp inhale of expected breath when the festival kicks off later this month.
